New Golf Shafts 2026A gear nerd who averages 72 compares nine models by weight, torque and profile

Updated: Nov 3, 2026Contains affiliate links

Shafts cannot be told apart by their names or catch copy. Even within the same “mid-kick” category, shafts with different characters sit side by side. That is why I only trust the numbers in the official spec sheets. If I were to pick one from the 2026 new releases, with an average score of 72, it is the Graphite Design TOUR AD EK (released 4 September, 49,500 yen). In a comparison that a third party measured with the same head and the same golfer (I did not measure it), it had the highest quality of contact (smash factor) and the smallest misses to the left. The numbers and reasons are in the shaft ranking. But the right answer for a shaft changes with the player. Compare the weight and torque with your current shaft in the list below before you decide. In the same week in September, the Fujikura SPEEDER NX WHITE (3 September) and the UST Mamiya ATTAS RX PURE BLUE (3 September) also came out. Each costs 49,500 yen. In October, the FW-only Fujikura JADE SPEEDER (15 October) and the limited-quantity SPEEDER BOOST BLACK (29 October) also came out.

After swinging it: I used the 26 VENTUS TR RED in 6S (60-gram class, mid kick point) as fitted to a QUANTUM (9 degrees) for 4 rounds at a public course and 20 balls indoors in October 2026. The course was sunny autumn weather at 20°C. My clubhead speed is 46 m/s, the carry was 251 yards and the smash factor was 1.48 (ball speed 68 m/s ÷ 46). The good point was the right-dogleg 3rd hole, where I was playing with two friends and the fade curved smoothly. The trouble was that 3 of 10 balls pushed to the right, and I fixed it by moving the ball half a ball to the left. I did not choose it; it was the shaft that came on the club. I did not measure its frequency. I only took practice swings with the TOUR AD EK, the TENSEI 1K Pro and the MODUS3 LUXURY BLACK in a shop, and I only looked at the other models in a shop without hitting them. I would use it again.

Figures are from each maker's official site (checked Sep 14, 2026).

Weight, torque and profile comparison of the new shafts released in September 2026

Bottom line

Narrow a shaft down by number, in the order weight, torque, profile.
The three September releases are all mid to mid-tip profiles, and you can pick weights from the 40s to the 70s of grams. What's easy to miss is that within the same series, a lighter model has more torque (twist). The SPEEDER NX WHITE is 5.4° at 40g and 2.9° at 70g.
First check the weight and torque of your current shaft. Then stay within 10g in weight and 1° in torque, and you're less likely to miss badly (our rule of thumb).

The three September shafts (NX WHITE, RX PURE BLUE, TOUR AD EK) share a price and a release window, but their characters differ a little.

The SPEEDER BOOST BLACK, out Oct 29 in limited quantity, is only 1g lighter in each model than the standard version, with the same torque and profile. Whether to wait for the black or buy the standard one is in SPEEDER BOOST BLACK vs the standard version, which lists every model's numbers.

The 26 VENTUS TR comes in three types under one name: BLUE (mid-butt), RED (mid-tip) and BLACK (butt), each with a different profile. For the BLACK, the official site says "butt" while a GDO article says "mid", so they disagree. This article uses the official label.

There aren't many all-new designs among the iron shafts. The MMT AMC Iron is a carbon shaft for intermediate to advanced players who want something lighter than steel. The LUXURY BLACK series isn't about performance. It's for matching the look of black irons.

I couldn't find any 2026 release announcements from True Temper (Dynamic Gold, PROJECT X) or KBS on their official sites.

A maker's stock shaft often has a name close to a retail shaft but is a separate, purpose-built product (for example, the VENTUS TR ZXi-II versus the 26 VENTUS TR). If you reshaft assuming it's the same as the retail one, the feel can change.

For the drivers themselves, see New Drivers 2026.

Narrow down by weight, then torque, then profile

1. Weight: start within ±10g of your current shaft

I start with weight because torque and swing feel both follow it. A light shaft raises head speed more easily, but your swing path gets less steady. A heavy one steadies direction but tends to cost head speed (per the GDO Golf Shop explainer).

2. Torque: how much it twists. More torque draws the ball more easily

Driver shafts run roughly 2° to 6°. According to a pro coach (Waggle), a smooth swinger gets a draw more easily at 4° or more, and a fast, hard swinger keeps direction steadier at 3° or less.

Remember that within the same series, a lighter model has more torque. The TOUR AD EK is 5.3° in the 48g 4 and 2.8° in the 78g 7. When weight changes, torque changes with it.

3. Profile: where it bends most. Tip-flex launches higher

A tip-flex shaft adds loft at impact and tends to launch high. A butt-flex shaft adds less loft and tends to give a lower, stronger flight. Mid is in between (per the Sportsnavi explainer).

If the ball won't get up, look at mid-tip. If it balloons, look at mid-butt to butt. That narrows the candidates.

About the writer and sources

Written by a gear nerd who studies golf equipment, averages a 72, and plays about 150 rounds a year.

I rechecked the figures against the sources below on 5 October 2026. I used the 26 VENTUS TR RED, and I only took practice swings with the TOUR AD EK, TENSEI 1K Pro and MODUS3 in a shop. I only looked at the rest in a shop and have not hit them. The update date is 3 November 2026.

FAQ

Which new shafts came out in September 2026?

Three: the Fujikura SPEEDER NX WHITE (Sep 3), UST Mamiya ATTAS RX PURE BLUE (Sep 3) and Graphite Design TOUR AD EK (Sep 4). Each is ¥49,500 per shaft, tax included. Fujikura's fairway-wood-only JADE SPEEDER (¥44,000) is due on Oct 15.

How do the SPEEDER NX WHITE and TOUR AD EK differ?

The NX WHITE has a mid-tip profile, built to launch high and draw a little. The TOUR AD EK has a mid profile, built to add speed and draw bias on top of stability. Torque is close: 4.7° for the NX WHITE 50 and 4.4° for the TOUR AD EK 5.

How much shaft torque should I choose?

For drivers it's usually in the 2° to 6° range. A smooth swinger is generally pointed to 4° or more, a fast, hard swinger to 3° or less. If you're unsure, start around 4°. Note that within the same series, the lighter the model, the higher the torque.

Are there new iron shafts for 2026?

Mitsubishi Chemical's carbon MMT AMC Iron (Jul 10, ¥12,100 per shaft) and Nippon Shaft's black-plated N.S.PRO MODUS3 LUXURY BLACK (from April). I couldn't find 2026 releases from True Temper or KBS on their official sites.
