RangefindersNew Golf Rangefinders 2026A gear nerd compares weight, waterproofing and power before feature count, and picks three
Updated: Nov 3, 2026Contains affiliate links
Choose a rangefinder by its feature count and you'll regret it. You carry it every round. What I look at first is weight, waterproofing and power. I lined up the 2026 models and, as a gear nerd, picked three: for lightness and price, the Voice Caddie Laser FIT2 (130 g, JPY 37,400); for rain and competition, the Bushnell Tour V7 Shift Jolt (246 g, IPX6); and if you also want to measure swing speed in practice, the Shot Navi PRECIS LM (132 g, JPY 49,940). The five in the list range from 130 g (Laser FIT2) to 246 g (the two Bushnells), a 116 g spread. The lightest is the Shot Navi STEADY at 116 g, listed separately. This year, models that add features beyond measuring distance stand out. The Bushnell Tour Hybrid Jolt with GPS and the Garmin Approach Z10, which pairs with Garmin watches, are also lined up newest first on official numbers, with photos.
A rangefinder suits any golfer. The number that decides your club shows up in your hand, so you spend less time wavering on each shot. The three I picked are all very good. I chose by weight, waterproofing and power, so none of them is a miss. If you're undecided, buy any of the three.
What I found after using them: I used the Voice Caddie Laser FIT2 for about 10 rounds and the Garmin Approach Z10 for about 8 rounds, from September 2026 on a public course. I also used the Shot Navi STEADY for about 12 rounds from May. I used the FIT2 and the Z10 alone, mostly on sunny autumn days at around 20 degrees C. I used the STEADY in September at a hilly course in Chiba with two friends: the 9th-hole flag was 151 yards away, and I had to measure again 3 times. The gap to the yardage stakes was within 1 yard for the FIT2 and the Z10, and 1 to 2 yards for the STEADY. What gave me trouble was that the FIT2 lost its lock on a misty morning when the flag was hazy, and that the Z10’s numbers were hard to read in the backlight of the morning. I only looked at the PRECIS LM and the Hybrid Jolt in a shop, and I bought none of them. I also used the older Tour V7 for 2 rounds between June and November 2025 (I have not used the Shift Jolt that went on sale on April 24, 2026). It rained only once, lightly, and I have not used any of them in a competition.

Bottom line
For lightness and price: the Voice Caddie Laser FIT2 (130 g, JPY 37,400).
When in doubt, this is it. Something you carry every round at 130 g, USB-C rechargeable, for JPY 37,400. All three for under JPY 40,000.
If you play in the rain and want clear tournament legality, it's the Bushnell Tour V7 Shift Jolt (246 g, IPX6, tournament-legal). This year's new model has a red and green OLED and even recalls your last reading. One unit for rainy days and competition days: a build I envy.
If you also want to measure swing speed in practice, the Shot Navi PRECIS LM (132 g, JPY 49,940). It's the only one of the five that measures your swing.
2026 rangefinders: release dates and price (newest first)
| Model | Release date | Price (tax included) | Weight | Waterproofing | Power | Features |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bushnell Tour Hybrid Jolt | Aug 7, 2026 | ¥88,000 (official store) | 246g | IPX6 | CR123 battery | Laser plus GPS. Also shows distance to the front, center and back of the green |
| Shot Navi PRECIS LM | Early August 2026 | ¥49,940 | 132g | IPX4 | USB-C charging | With swing measurement (head speed, ball speed, carry and more) |
| Garmin Approach Z10 | Jun 11, 2026 | ¥47,800 | 178g | IPX4 | CR2 battery | Shares distance with a Garmin watch. Has a tournament mode. Also links with the Approach S72 watch, out Oct 22: Approach S72 |
| Voice Caddie Laser FIT2 | Pre-orders opened May 28, 2026 | ¥37,400 | 130g | Splash resistant | USB-C charging | Ball to Pin, which gives the distance from the ball to the pin |
| Bushnell Tour V7 Shift Jolt | Apr 24, 2026 | ¥69,300 (official store) | 246g | IPX6 | CR2 battery | Red and green OLED display. Recalls the last measured distance |
The waterproof rating IPX4 covers splashes, and IPX6 covers strong jets of water. If you play in the rain, IPX6 or higher is reassuring. If you only play in dry weather, you don't need it.
The Tour Hybrid Jolt is sold only at the official store and some Alpen stores.
One note on a service, not a model. On Oct 9, 2026, Voice Caddie launched Auto Pin (APL), which enters the day's pin positions automatically. The supported products listed on the official page are the T12 PRO and SL mini; the Laser FIT2 in this table isn't listed (checked Oct 9, 2026).
What I learned from using them
I used the Laser FIT2 and the Approach Z10 from September 2026 on a public course: about 10 rounds with the FIT2 and about 8 with the Z10. I used the STEADY from May for about 12 rounds. I used the FIT2 and the Z10 alone, mostly on sunny autumn days at around 20 degrees C. I did not count the charges. I also used the older Tour V7 for 2 rounds between June and November 2025; it rained only once, lightly. I have not used the Shift Jolt. I did not use any of them in a competition.
With the Laser FIT2, I could see the slope in front of and behind the flag, and the remaining distance did not jitter. The gap to the yardage stakes was within 1 yard on its 0.1-yard display. What gave me trouble was that it lost its lock on a misty morning when the flag was hazy. I dealt with it by aiming at a tree near the flag first.
The Approach Z10 had numbers that were easy to see on its screen, but on some mornings the backlight made them hard to read. I made a shadow with my hand to read them. The gap to the yardage stakes was within 1 yard, and it picked up the flag almost every time.
The STEADY was light and easy to take in and out. The gap to the yardage stakes was 1 to 2 yards. Sometimes it picked up a tree behind the flag; on the 9th hole I had to measure again 3 times. Then I re-aimed near the flag.
The two Bushnell models weigh 246 g, and the Laser FIT2 weighs 130 g. The gap is 116 g, so the FIT2 weighs about half as much as the Bushnell (my calculation, weights are the makers’ figures).
I compared the FIT2 and the Z10 because their prices were close. I chose the FIT2 for how easy it is to use on the course. If I were choosing again, I would use the FIT2, the Z10 and the STEADY again. The tournament-legal and tournament-mode labels are the makers’ descriptions, and I have not tried them in a competition.
Key points on each new model
Shot Navi PRECIS LM (early August)
A laser rangefinder combined with Doppler swing measurement. It measures head speed, ball speed, smash factor, carry and total distance. Range is 3.3 to 2,000 yards at 7x magnification, with about 24,000 measurements per charge or about 90 minutes of swing measurement. It adds swing measurement to the PRECIS released in late March 2026.
Buy 1 rangefinder and you get head speed and ball speed too. 132g, ¥49,940. A greedy 1-in-1 unit.
Garmin Approach Z10 (June 11)
178g, up to 1,200 yards (350 yards to a pin), 6x. In tournament mode, an LED shows that all assist functions are off. It links with Garmin golf watches so a measured distance can also go to the watch. Garmin says the CR2 battery lasts about a year.
About a year on one battery. A rangefinder you don't have to think about charging is plain, but kind to its owner.
Bushnell Tour V7 Shift and Voice Caddie Laser FIT2
I used the Laser FIT2 for about 10 rounds. Details are in Bushnell Pinseeker compared and Voice Caddie Laser FIT2.
If I'm choosing 1, it's the Laser FIT2. It's light, rechargeable, and the easiest to afford of the 5 models at ¥37,400. Pick the Tour V7 Shift Jolt only if rain and tournaments are a given.

Three New Shot Navi Models: STEADY, nano GR+ and LINEA
Separate from the five models above, here are Shot Navi's three newest laser rangefinders. Prices run from ¥24,970 to ¥36,300. All three have a red-and-green OLED display, Pin Seek (which vibrates when it locks onto the flag), three-point measurement and a tournament mode.
| Model | Release date | Price (tax included) | Weight | Reading speed | Measuring range |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shot Navi STEADY | Late Apr 2026 | ¥24,970 | 116g | 0.05 s | 3.2–1,312.3 yd |
| Shot Navi nano GR+ | Oct 2025 | ¥36,300 | 110g | 0.05 s | 3.0–1,312.0 yd |
| Shot Navi LINEA | Aug 1, 2025 | ¥29,920 | 139g | 0.1 s | 3.3–1,640.0 yd |
Pick STEADY for a quick choice in the ¥20,000s, LINEA for longer range and faster charging, and nano GR+ for the lightest body. Each review lays out the numbers.
